About Rumors
As the curtains
open, the stage at St. John Vianney Family Life Center comes to
life. We are introduced to the home of Charley Brock, Deputy
Mayor of New York where a celebration of his 10th wedding
anniversary is scheduled to take place. Two of his best friends,
Ken and Chris Gorman are the first to arrive at the "party"
where they find Charley upstairs with a bullet hole through his
ear and his wife, Myra is missing. As the remaining four
couples begin to arrive, the plot thickens as Ken and Chris try
to "protect" Charley by creating their own version of his
situation.
During the 2nd
Act, more gunshots have been heard, rumors begin to fly, and to
make the situation even worse, the police have been called.
"Who called the police?" and "What do we tell them?" are just a
couple of questions these sophisticated politicians, doctors and
lawyers are trying to answer. Plausible stories and logic are
lost as they come up with every scenario possible including
cousins, hips and warts.
