About "The Project"
"The Project" is an original musical with a
message of hope for young and old alike. "The Project" features 10
new songs and its theme is T.E.A.M. (Together, Everyone, Achieves,
More). Its purpose is to demonstrate how goals can be achieved when
parents, teachers, students and administrators all work together.
As the saying goes, “Life imitates Art”, the
same is true of "The Project" which premiered on July 14 & 15 in
Prince Frederick to standing ovations and thunderous applause after
each performance. This fabulous show is a collective effort of
students, parents, and teachers. The cast includes more than 20
students representing five area high schools (Great Mills,
Leonardtown, Chopticon, Patuxent, and Calvert) as well as the
College of Southern Maryland and P.G. Community College and parents
from the community and members of the Great Mills High School Staff.
"The Project" is sure to entertain, educate, and develop in young
minds a love for live theater and the arts, and is well on its way
to being a smash hit!

Ken Garvin
was born and raised in New York City. He’s a graduate of
the City College of New York with a degree in
Communications. He moved to Southern Maryland in 1982
and began his career as a local radio personality. He
later became a sales associate for Channel 10 (cable
television) and now owns his own marketing company.
He’s married to the love of his life, Connie, and they
have two children. He’s been a Calvert County resident
since 1987.
Ken’s
affiliation with Patuxent Playhouse began 4 years ago
with our collaboration on his first script, “Trust In
the Lord”, a powerful story of a street slick gangster
who finds the right path. Shortly after Ken was asked to
join the Patuxent Playhouse Board of Directors where he
now serves.
Ken’s second production with PPI was “Husbands and Wives
Revisited”, a hilarious take on the average American
family and the challenges they face. The show played all
over Southern Maryland and was wildly popular.
“I fell in
love with theater after seeing my first Broadway play.
It was called Purlie Victories and I was completely
blown away by the acting, singing, and power of live
theater. It was a voluntary school trip, and to be
honest, I didn’t want to go, but any excuse to miss a
day of school sounded like a golden opportunity to me.
Little did I know, I would see, hear, and discover the
magic of theater.”
“A book I
read says, that with the right source, “All things are
possible!” And if you don’t believe that just keep in
mind that a musical can be written by a person who has
never taken a music class, doesn’t know one musical note
from the next, never played or studied an instrument…but
just believed in the power of a dream and tapping into
the right source.
“Dream Big! Believe Big! Find and
tap into the right source!”
